Florida MOT Requirements
The Florida
Department of Transportation has adopted the "Manual On Uniform
Traffic Control Devices For Streets And Highways" (MUTCD) and subsequent
revisions and addendums, as published by the U.S. Department of
Transportation,
Federal Highway Administration, for mandatory use on the State Maintained
Highway System whenever there exists the need for construction,
maintenance
operations or utility work.
 
Florida law
requires that any person with the following duties or responsibilities
must complete a course and maintain Intermediate Level certification in
Maintenance of Traffic (MOT):
• Direct responsibility for placement of work zone traffic
control devices
• Direct responsibility for field maintenance of work zone
traffic control devices
• Inspection of placement or function of work zone traffic
control devices
• Drafting or electronic generation of work zone traffic
control plans
