HAZMAT First
Responder - Level I
This course is designed for any employee who may respond to an incident
involving
hazardous materials. This is awareness-level training for responders who
are likely
to witness or discover a hazardous materials release and will initiate a
response by
notifying the proper agency or agencies. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 states that
all
employees who respond to such events must receive training based on their
level of
activity at the scene and this course meets those requirements.
 
Objectives:
• Understand the role of a Level-I responder
• Identify the hazards involved in an emergency
• Determine site control and security
• Learn about the harmful effects of hazardous substances on the human
body
• Acquire information regarding the characteristics of the hazardous
material involved
